A breathtaking view of the Vranov Reservoir and the Dyje Valley from a majestic rocky promontory.
The rocky viewpoint called Králův stolec lies on the right bank of the Vranov Reservoir near the dam. According to legend, John of Luxembourg rested here during his hunting expeditions and admired the deep Dyje Valley. The site is dominated by an iron cross and offers one of the most beautiful panoramas of the entire reservoir.
From the viewpoint, you can see not only the vast water surface but also the ruins of Cornštejn Castle, Vranov nad Dyjí Chateau, and the extensive forests of Podyjí National Park. The rock is easily accessible via a marked hiking trail from Vranov nad Dyjí, the route is less than two kilometers long and suitable for families with children.
Králův stolec is a popular stop for cycling and hiking. We recommend visiting in clear weather, when distant views open up to the Austrian border. Don't forget your camera – the sunsets here are among the most romantic in the entire region.
